We’re in the era of 5g and due to the Global pandemic of Covid-19, more and more people are going online.
Many businesses are also going online and leveraging the internet.
However, along the way of Digital Marketing, they also make many mistakes that leads them to the failure of their digital marketing journey.
In this post, I’m going to discuss some of the digital marketing mistakes that can cause you to fail in digital marketing.
Let’s get started.
1. Targeting the wrong audience
One of the most common mistakes businesses make is they try to go with a broad audience. They want to reach more people, so they target everyone without even thinking if the target audience is interested in his product or service.
At the end of the day, when people don’t buy or use their services they end up doubting their products and services and getting discouraged.
Many companies also think that they’re targeting the right audience but end up targeting an entirely wrong audience. It turns out to be waste of time and money.
When businesses target a very huge audience, chances are they’re targeting a lot of people who’re not interested in their products or services.
2. Not Using SEO
With over billions of new blog posts, every single day, the cheapest and the most effective way to get visibility is by optimizing your website for search engines.
As it takes a longer time to see the results of SEO, many digital marketers don’t focus on SEO and instead focus mostly on paid advertising. Although with paid advertising, you can increase the visibility of your website in a short period of time, it is not much recommended if you’re not getting an increase in ROI in the long run.
On the other hand, SEO takes a longer time to show results and once it starts showing results you can increase the visibility of your business and brand at a much cheaper price than paid advertising.
3. Not Communicating With The Audience
Not replying back to the comments and emails of your audience is a great mistake that many of us make.
When we get a bunch of emails and comments, we often ignore many comments and emails which decrease the connection between you and your audience.
When you reply to your subscribers’ comments on your website or any other channel, they feel special that their voices are being heard.
Interacting with your audience can benefit your brand as well.
Make sure you’re commenting in an appropriate manner.
You can also comment on others’ blogs as well, this will increase the visibility of your brand and website but remember not to spam as nobody wants to see spam and it will harm your brand image.
4. Not Remarketing
People are not going to buy your products and services the first time you approach them.
We always get soo busy focusing on getting new customers that we forget about our existing audience that showed interest in our products and services.
The people who showed interest in your products and services are more likely to convert than someone new who doesn’t know about your brand.
Let’s understand it with an example.
Let’s say you sent proposals to two people, one knows you from before and has a good relationship with you, the other is a total stranger.
Who has the higher chances of accepting your proposal?
It’s obvious, the person you know from before has a higher chance of accepting your proposal as you know each other for a long time.
Marketing also works the same, people who know about your brand from before tend to convert better than strangers.
And it is also necessary to market with new people to increase the visibility of your brand but you must not forget to remarket your existing audience.
5. No Proper Goal and Ambitions
Without proper goals and ambitions, there is no success.
Create both short-term and long-term goals for your business.
It is also good to observe the past trends and experiences of others who are in the same industry as yours, this will give you more clarity of your goals and ambitions.
And make sure that your marketing team understands these goals and implements them.
6. Avoiding Social Media
Social media is a great platform to increase your brand visibility and to interact with your audience. It is also a lot cheaper.
The average user spends 28% of their internet time on social media.
Many big brands like Nike and Adidas are also on social media to leverage it.
If you’re not on social media then you might be losing a huge opportunity to interact with your audience and increase your brand awareness.
We learn and experience from mistakes. But something avoiding some mistakes can boost the rate of our success.
These are some common digital marketing mistakes that almost everyone makes.
